I absolutely love finding a new app which I know will save me time, look cool and be fun in the classroom. Last night while perusing twitter I came across a tweet about one called Post It Plus. This a quite new; so I even managed to find some articles written about it in the news. I downloaded it at the beginning of a lesson with some year 7s and we really liked it. Well apart from one girl, but she was just being tricky!
We were discussing the Big Bang theory and Evolution so I asked them to write down an immediate response to these ideas on their post it and after collecting them in I took a photo with the app. You have to hold down on the capture button for a few seconds. The Post Its then get recognised and you have created a board which you can save. I will upload this to their Google drive shared folder too, so they can come back to what we came up with. If there is one you don't like the look of you can delete it or if you double tap on it you can look through the gallery so everyone can see. I did this using Apple TV.
The uses I would have for it are either for brainstorming, either when coming up with different responses to questions or to share varying opinions, it would also be useful as a plenary tool for AFL. Everyone could write down one thing they'd learnt, or one question they might ask at the beginning or end of the lesson. I am a huge fan of tools which allow you to share ideas so Padlet and Linoit are superb but I can do this quickly, effectively and without having to get the iPads out and have everyone log on to a website which is always painful.
Post It PlusI love it!!
